Exhibit On Tour - Harold Garde: Painting 50 Years. (10:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Exhibit on Tour - Harold Garde: Painting 50 years.
Museum of Florida Art- Feb 22, 2012 - Jan 31, 2014, varying times

As an outstanding painter, Harold Garde's roots go back to the abstract expressionist moment of the mid 20th century. These strong influences have helped create his current unique style as a figurative painter. His mediums include paintings, monotypes, and strappos which are a self-invented process of transferring dried acrylic paint from glass to paper or canvas. He moves from simplicity of form to intense psychological works with an effervescent wit.

Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Sunday, 1- 4 p.m. Museum of Florida Art, 600 North Woodland Boulevard, DeLand.

Since 2009, Lee Dunkel has been photographing the Lyonia Preserve, a 360-acre joint project of Volusia County's Land Acquisition and Management Division and the Volusia County School Board to restore and maintain this scrub habitat in Deltona, Florida. Artist's Talk, Book Signing and Opening Reception: Friday, October 18, 6 - 8 p.m.

"Violet Isle" is the little-known name for Cuba inspired by the rich color of the soil there. A unique and enigmatic double portrait by photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb; Violet Isle, combines two separate photographic visions: Alex Webb's dramatic and graphic exploration of street life in Cuba; and Rebecca Norris Webb's fascination with the unique, quixotic collections of animals she discovered there in tiny zoos, pigeon societies, hand-painted natural history displays and quirky personal menageries.

Dr. Gordon Edmund, Curator of Vertebrate Palenontology at Canada's Royal Ontario Museum, identified and reconstructed the sloth for MOAS.
