Daytona's Dining & Docking Destination
It's hard to say what's most notable at this waterfront restaurant; the scenic views of birds, boats and the nearby lighthouse or the savory flavors that go into the many steak, chicken and seafood dishes. Whether you come by land or by sea, you will find that this Florida beach bar provides a wonderful place to catch a sunset and that the views from this bar are spectacular.
Frozen treat made your way
Being the frozen yogurt lover that I am, I was very excited when I heard about a new frozen yogurt shop in Daytona Beach. Rhokkoh’s Frozen Yogurt, located on Beach Street, is only a few months old, but a wonderful addition to the Daytona Beach area. I ventured in on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately impressed with both the atmosphere and variety of frozen yogurt choices available.
Gator Nation at the Worlds Most Famous Beach
As I walked into the store, I was immediately impressed by the large variety of items the store carried. The front of the store is set up like a typical surf shop. Beach towels, Daytona Beach hoodies, sunglasses, and flip flops lined the pastel painted walls. As I made my way past the beach ware, the store turned into a scene straight out of Gator nation.
The sophisticated side of Daytona Beach
When I think of Daytona Beach, it’s easy to picture the casual beach days complete with mornings at the shore, mid-day trips to the surf shops and nights playing mini golf. Although Daytona Beach is home to all of those things, I discovered a different angle of the beach town last weekend. A walk around Tom Cook Jeweler gave me a chance to experience the sophisticated side of Daytona.
Makin’ Bubba proud: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
Shrimp, shrimp and a little of everything else, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company is true to the movie with a little something for all. One of my best friends Anne and I recently partook in a girls only afternoon lunch at the Forrest Gump themed eatery located on the ground floor of the Ocean Walk Shoppes.
A Ponce Inlet Hidden Secret
I’ve always thought of Ponce Inlet as one of the “hidden secrets” of Daytona Beach. I’ve spent a lot of time on the beaches in the Daytona area and when I mention Ponce Inlet, most have never heard of it.

For the first time ever, winter in Daytona Beach will have dazzling decorations and special events! Guests that come Beachside will be transported into a winter wonderland filled with holiday treats, music, ice skating and a spectacular spectacle of dancing lights all set on the dazzling Atlantic Ocean!

In addition to the beautiful beach, Ponce Inlet also offers a great opportunity to experience a piece of the history behind the Daytona Beach area. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station, located just off the shoreline of Ponce Inlet, provides visitors and locals alike with a chance to visit a Florida landmark.

Make your own pancakes, on your table!
You can smell the sweet aroma before you step inside the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant at De Leon Springs State Park. In this friendly, family-style dining room, delectable pancakes sizzle to a golden brown on a griddle right in the middle of your table. But the best part is you can make them yourself!
Mini Golf, Go carts, Batting cages and games galore!
When I arrived at Go Kart City, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the location offered more than the name suggests. In addition to go carting, guests can also work on their batting average in the batting cages, perfect their swing with a round of mini golf, and play in the arcade.
Boondocks, Casual Riverfront Outdoor Dining
The opportunity to relax is one of the best parts about being in a beach area like Daytona. Another nice thing is being able to go out for a meal rather than having to cook one yourself. Although I love to cook, it’s nice to have someone else make the meal while I relax and enjoy the scenery; especially when the food is delicious and the scenery is beautiful. My recent lunch experience at Boondocks offered the perfect balance of relaxing atmosphere and great food.
Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory: Come take a tour!
I think it’s safe to say chocolate is one of my favorite foods. I’m also very interested to learn where my food comes from, especially if I eat it a lot. As a frequent chocolate eater and someone who enjoys learning about food, I was more than happy to visit Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory in Daytona Beach. Located right on Beach Street, Angell & Phelps Chocolate is both a historical landmark and a sweet destination for tourists and locals alike. Voted at one of the Top Ten Sweetest Destinations in America by TripAdvisor.com, Angell & Phelps Chocolate offers great chocolate and a great history to go along with it.
MOAS makes learning fun!

In addition to the great beach, trendy restaurants, and plenty of other tourist locations, Daytona Beach is also full of rich history. The Museum of Arts & Sciences offers the perfect opportunity to take in some of the history surrounding both Daytona and other areas in our county. Although I consider myself a frequent visitor of Daytona Beach, I had never visited the museum and was pleasantly surprised to discover all that Museum of Arts & Sciences had to offer.

Caribbean Jack’s Restaurant and Bar in Daytona Beach is the place to be
When the skies are clear, the sun is shining and the hunger pains set in, Caribbean Jack’s Restaurant and Bar in Daytona Beach is the place to be. Named after John "Caribbean Jack" Gilbert, a famous prohibition rumrunner, Caribbean Jack’s offers an excellent choice of rum concoctions, awesome food and a beautiful view of the Halifax River.
Slow-cooked scrumptious barbeque!
Blocks away from our dining destination, my fellow foodie and I found ourselves inhaling the intoxicating aromas of slow-cooked scrumptious barbeque. We were salivating as we neared our upcoming meal. Nothing recharges the body after a day in the sun like some good ole’ Southern slow-cooked barbeque.
A place that whispers like an empty cathedral
Are you ready to trade the exhilaration of the coast for a place that whispers like an empty cathedral? The narrow Old Florida road leading back to the 150-acre Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park is framed by soaring pines and dense woods eerily dripping with Spanish moss.
Hard to believe this was the final launch!
Ponce Inlet was a popular spot to view the final launch of the space shuttle Discovery on the afternoon of February 24th, 2011. I was on the dock with some friends when I realized there were at least 75 other onlookers. It was amazing to see the many reactions and feel the excitement in the air when Discovery became visible just over the yachts in the marina.
